MORE | Maryhurst is excited to announce the opening of the Humana Foundation walking trail, made possible thanks to the Humana Foundation’s generous $125,000 donation. The walking trail along with Madeline’s Cottage and our new butterfly garden is one of three exciting additions to our Dorsey Lane Campus made possible through the success of the Stand Up for Girls Campaign, which includes $2.9 million in capital improvements to campus. According to Humana Foundation executive director Virginia Kelly Judd, “At the Humana Foundation we believe in Maryhurst and its commitment to provide a healthy environment and healthy activities for the Maryhurst community. That is why we’re delighted to support the Humana Foundation Walking Trail and the important mission of Maryhurst to promote healing and wellness among the entire Maryhurst family.”
Spanning nearly ½ mile across our campus, the trail encourages overall healthy living for both our girls and our staff. It provides more opportunities to get outside and get active and allows our girls to further engage in the therapeutic possibilities of exercise. Maryhurst President & CEO Judy Lambeth says, “We are so grateful to the Humana Foundation for helping to partner with us on such an important project for our campus. It is a valuable gift that will create a culture of wellness for exercise, individual therapy and reflection for our girls and staff alike for many years to come.”
Maryhurst will celebrate the grand opening of the trail with a 5K walk for its staff in partnership with the Humana Foundation, Humana Vitality, and BB&T. The walk is one part of our endeavor to promote health and wellness culture throughout the organization. We would also like to thank Alpha Media and the Louisville Water Company for their support of this event.
